Bob was saved at a Billy Graham Crusade in 1949 at age 10. He was
baptized at Peachtree Road Methodist Church where he taught an Adult Sunday
Class for many years.
He received the call to preach and passed the Studies for the License to
Preach in the Department of Ministerial Education of the Board of Education
in the Methodist church in Nashville Tennessee. He was examined by the
Committee on Ministerial Qualifications and received his Local Preacher's
License in 1960.
Bob served as pastor as pastor of the Shiloh Methodist Church in Kennesaw,
Georgia. During his pastorate this rural church grew from 20 to 125
members.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta.
His graduate education includes Emory University Law School, Rutgers
University Graduate Banking School, Harvard University Graduate School of
Business and the Wharton School of Business at the University of
Pennsylvania.
Bob was a banker for 24 years, serving as President & CEO of a rural
community bank during the last 5 years of his banking career. He is a
Certified Management Consultant, Certified Speaking Professional, and a
Certified Professional Consultant to Management. He is the principle
and owner of Calvert Consulting, a management consulting and resource firm
focusing on board and management issues in community banks.
He has facilitated more than 657 strategic plans and led workshops for more
than 28 years. Calvert Consulting, founded in 1982, works with
individual community banks, state and national bankers associations, state
and federal regulators and has more than 247 consulting, executive
recruiting, and presentation clients in 47 states.
Bob is a member of the Society of Financial Examiners and has served on the
faculty of 7 graduate banking schools including the University of Florida.
Bob is married to Sandy and they have 6 children and 11 grandchildren.
They are both native Atlantians who now live in Alford, Florida. Sandy
works with Bob in Calvert Consulting, Bob is a licensed Florida
auctioneer and a Florida Notary Public. Sandy and Bob have taught
Disciple Bible and Biblical Financial Study courses. Sandy has served
as Trustee and Bob the finance chairman of their local church.
Bob conducts frequent workshops, seminars, and convention sessions for
banks, regulators, and bankers associations nationwide. He and Sandy
have served on the church administrative board and have been chosen
delegates to state, jurisdictional, and international conferences of The
United Methodist Church.
